Sadly too many people have a policy of killing all snakes - and consider lizards to be “little snakes with legs”

We visited a national park in Puerto Rico once and our guide told us that the local people called the tree iguanas "pollo de los árboles" (if I remember correctly) "Chicken of the trees." They ARE big enough to make a helping though.

We have those little guys all over the place. We love to see them since they eat all those bad bugs. I love the part "too small to make a helping"!

Thanks for such a thoughtful post! We have lots of these in our garden. Two years ago I moved a scrap of wood and found a female on a nest of eggs. Came back daily and finally they hatched. Took lots of photos and will post them in time on my blog.
