In my area there are not such snow falls that can destroy a greenhouse.
I usually try to find such location that can't be effected by snow or heavy rain.Though it occur i can simply manage it to recover it.

David, here in the Colorado mountains, we fight both snow and wind. My solution was threefold. First, we built 3 raised beds measuring 4'x16'x18". They are almost 4 feet apart. Then we covered two of them with a 12'x16' hoophouse using 1"x20' pvc pipe on 27" spacing. Then on the ridge I added a 1"x16' pipe ON TOP OF the ribs. It's fastened with #10x32 machine screws 2-1/2" long. I drilled the holes vertically up through each rib, then the ridge pipe. By having the ridge pipe on top of the ribs, it provides the support and the slope needed at the top of the hoophouse to shed snow down the sides. By having raised beds made of 2x6 lumber, the snow pile pushes against lumber backed by soil, instead of pushing against plastic sheeting. We've measured wind gusts over 75 mph and sustained wind over 50 mph on our wind gauge with no damage to the hoop house. And with our photovoltaic powered fans to keep the air moving on warm days, it's a really comfortable oasis in our high mountain home.

Hi dave, Finished my hoop house in late April. Got a dump of heavy wet snow,6",and 35 mph winds. This thing is as solid as a rock. 2x6 ridge beam made a difference. I can do chin-ups on it at 175lbs. I also cross braced it with 12 ga. wire from Tractor Supply. 2 doors for ventilation and pinch boards to hold the plastic to the frame. I think with a little common sense it will hold up to our Adirondack winters just fine.Wish I had done this 30 years ago. Keep up the good work.

Don't ever listen to detractors, this is a GREAT idea and your trial and error process is inspiring and all part of the fun! Look how much support you've generated and inspired others to try different solutions.

I've enjoyed following this simply for that alone.

Would just like Mahaki to know he's an ignorant git!
'Areas' doesn't have an apostrophe before the 's' - that's not the way to form a plural! - "Some mothers do have them; down right thick" !
I have been inspired by this well written article to make a hoop-house greenhouse in our garden in Cardiff, South Wales - thank you very much David LaFerney - diolch yn fawr.
